BLOODY PANDA Unveils Album Title
February 6, 2007New York City doom act BLOODY PANDA has set "Pheromone" as the title of its full-length debut, due on April 24 via Level-Plane Records. According to a press release, "Pheromone" "captures the essence of BLOODY PANDA's unique sound, a sound hailed by CMJ New Music Monthly as 'New York microtonal funeral doom' and by Flavorpill as 'a hybrid of experimental atmospherics and cold, evil metal.'"
"Pheromone" was recorded by Jason Marcucci (FLAMING LIPS, WHITE STRIPES) and mastered by Sarah Register (LOU REED, CALLA).
BLOODY PANDA guitarist Josh Rothenberger explains that the title "Pheromone" dates back to the earliest days of BLOODY PANDA: "When we first started playing with [BLOODY PANDA frontwoman] Yoshiko, she had a two-minute song called 'Pheromone' that was so dark and piercing. It was the first piece we played together. 'Pheromone' was the force that initially brought our disparate backgrounds and musical universes together. It kind of cast an electric shadow over the next few years of collaboration that certainly permeated the music on the upcoming full-length."
BLOODY PANDA will be touring in support of "Pheromone" beginning with an East Coast run in April.
